Frozen shoulder refers to shoulder discomfort or reduced range of motion of shoulders in 50s. Frozen shoulder pains occur in the nighttime and the degree of pain is severe and is nonreactive to painkillers in most cases. In frozen shoulder patients, 50% experience pains and reduced range of motion without other shoulder joint diseases, and 50% are caused from calcific tendinitis, SLAP and rotator cuff tear.

The major inconvenience in frozen shoulder patients due to reduced range of motion is that they cannot change clothes or wear belts by themselves. Therefore, immediate diagnosis and treatment are essential for shoulder pains and shoulder motion disorders. In general, when frozen shoulder occurs, many patients painfully stretch and exercise shoulders, but this is not recommended.
